Online Couples and Relationship Therapy in Virginia
If you live in Virginia and the same argument keeps coming back, you can get help without driving to an office. I'm Jordan Johnson, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I meet with couples and individuals by secure video, and I only work online.
Who I work with
Some people come as a couple. Some come alone. Both are welcome.
Couples who keep having the same fight and want a way back to each other.
Individuals who care about the relationship and want to change their part of the pattern, even if their partner is not ready to come yet.
People who feel lonely next to someone they love.
You do not have to be in crisis to start. Getting ahead of a pattern counts.
Online therapy for people across Virginia
I see people anywhere in Virginia. That includes Northern Virginia, the Richmond area, Hampton Roads, the Shenandoah Valley, and the small towns of Southside and Southwest Virginia, where an in-person therapist can be a long drive away.
You need a private spot, a phone or laptop with a camera, and a steady internet connection. Partners can join from the same room or from separate locations.
Where you are during a session matters. You need to be located in a state where I am licensed or have telehealth privileges at the time of service. You can join from any location within one of these five states: Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Florida.
I live in Virginia, and there is no office to visit. Everything happens on video.
How I work: Secure Attachment Skills
Most couples I meet do not lack love. They are caught in a loop, like one partner pushing for closeness while the other pulls back. I teach the Secure Attachment Skills from Diane Poole Heller's book The Power of Attachment. They are plain, learnable skills like listening, staying present, and repairing after a hard moment.
We practice them in session. Then you try one at home, in small doses.
If faith is part of how you see your relationship, we can include it. If it is not, we won't.

Frequently asked questions
Are you licensed to see me in Virginia?
Yes. I hold a Virginia LPC license. Virginia's Board of Counseling holds online counseling to the same standards as in-person counseling.
Where do I need to be during a session?
You need to be located in a state where I am licensed or have telehealth privileges at the time of service. You can join from any location within Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Florida.
Do both partners have to come?
No. Many people start alone. When a partner is ready, we can bring them in.
Can we do couples therapy if we live far apart in Virginia?
Yes. Each of you can join from your own home or workplace. As long as both of you are in Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Carolina, or Florida at the time of the session, I'm able to meet with you together as a couple.
